OUR PRODUCTION PROCESS
Raw materials are shipped in cardboard containers from factories in Norway, Finland, Great Britain, France and Germany. The density of the materials range from 600 to 630 kg/m³. During the first stage of production, called pre-foaming, the raw materials are expanded, agitated and steam heated. |
Temperature, pressure and time determines the density of the finished EPS beads. After pre-foaming and drying, density is reduced from about 600 kg/m³ to between 20 and 30 kg/m³.
The raw material is then blown from the pre-foamer into storage silos, where it is aged for a minimum of 24 hours. This helps remove surplus Pentane accumulated in the pre-foaming process. Pentane is a blowing agent added during the manufacture of the raw material.
Aging takes place in large silos holding up to 3000 kg of EPS beads. The EPS is then blown into smaller silos, and from there into molds.
The molds are injected with steam and then cooled, before a vacuum pump extracts excess water and condensate. The molds are then opened, and the finished products are released.
Automation has simplified a lot of the process. We have from the beginning worked with robotics and automation in mind. |
